Obituary
On Sept. 21, 2022, God called home one of his angels. Ruby Lee Chatman Palmer departed this earth peacefully for her heavenly home.
Ruby was born Aug. 29, 1934, in Claiborne Parish to Porter Chatman Sr. and Bertha Vance Chatman. She was the eldest of four children.
She graduated from Webster High School in 1955. Ruby was married to Charles “Bud” Palmer and within this union five children were born.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents, Porter and Bertha; sister Gloria Dean Chatman; brothers Porter Jr. and Grady Chatman; grandparents and sister Gladys.
Ruby dedicated her life to Christ at a young age and joined the Mount Olive Baptist Church family, where she remained an active and faithful member until her health began to fail. An avid reader, she would read just about anything in print, including her Bible. In her spare time, she enjoyed solving crossword and word search puzzles.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Michael Wayne Palmer (Detrica) and Kenneth Lewis Palmer (Ellanee), all of Minden, Bruce David Chatman (Julia) of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Sherry Palmer Shephard of Longview, Texas; and Sandra Palmer Sims (Gary) of Laurel, Maryland; sister Rose Chatman Taylor; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Gloria Rice Chatman of Minden, nephew Christopher Nabors of Dallas, nieces Terri Palmer and Tangela Palmer of Kent, Washington; sister-in-law Mary Ann Palmer Graham of Monroe; goddaughter Kim Harris of Minden and many other relatives and friends.
